Steps to Export from Microsoft Outlook:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook:
    • Launch the Microsoft Outlook desktop application on your computer.
  2. Navigate to Calendar View:
    • In the bottom left corner of the Outlook window, click on the Calendar icon. This will switch your view to your calendar.
  3. Start the Import/Export Wizard:
    • Go to the top menu bar in Outlook.
    • Click on File.
    • In the left-hand menu that appears, click Open & Export.
    • Then, click Import/Export.
  4. Choose Export Option:
    • The “Import and Export Wizard” will open.
    • Select Export to a file from the options.
    • Click Next.
  5. Select iCalendar Format:
    • Choose iCalendar (.ics) as the file type to export.
    • Click Next.
  6. Select Calendar(s) to Export:
    • You will see a list of your calendars (e.g., “Calendar,” “Appointments,” or other specific calendars you manage in Outlook).
    • Click on the specific calendar you wish to export. If you have multiple calendars, you will need to repeat this entire process for each one.
    • Click Next.
  7. Set Date Range (Optional but Recommended):
    • A dialogue box titled “Save Calendar” will appear.
    • For a full migration, you typically want to export all events. Under “Date range,” you can select All appointments. If you only need a specific period, you can choose custom dates.
    • You can also review other options like detail level (Full details, Limited details, Free/Busy time) if provided. For migration, “Full details” is usually preferred.
  8. Name and Save Your File:
    • Click the Browse... button to choose a location on your computer where you want to save the file (e.g., your “Downloads” folder or Desktop).
    • Give your calendar export file a clear name (e.g., MyMainCalendar_Outlook.ics).
    • Click OK.
  9. Complete Export:
    • Click Export in the “Save Calendar” dialogue box.

Your calendar data will now be saved as an .ICS file on your computer, ready for import into another calendar service.
